The Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor Rank. The College is seeking highly qualified faculty members in the areas of Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. People with vigorous research programs and demonstrated graduate student productivity are strongly encouraged to apply for the senior rank. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in the relevant engineering discipline or a related field; those with a bachelor's degree in engineering are preferred. Salary level will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Faculty research activities are essential to the success of our program and as such new members are expected to initiate and sustain strong sponsored research and graduate training programs.

The Bourns College of Engineering is proud of its faculty's accomplishments and rapid growth. Over the past five years, the numbers of faculty and undergraduates have nearly doubled; graduate student enrollment has increased six-fold, and research expenditures have more than tripled. The College currently has 70 faculty members, 1300 undergraduates, more than 300 graduate students, and more than $30 million in annual research expenditures. The College is home to five interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research centers.

The College recently opened its Engineering II building as well as the Bourns Hall Clean Room facility (part of CNSE), and is expecting the opening of two additional buildings, Material Science and Engineering, and Engineering III in 2008 and 2011, respectively.

Staff Positions

Administrative Specialist (Full Ad)
Provide administrative support for the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering. Prepare reports as required to comply with university and agency requirements; assist with special projects; responsible for financial accountability and agency compliance; represents the Center to Dean's offices, campus administrative offices, budget and planning, Office of Research Affairs, purchasing, payroll, accounting, and equipment management. Schedule meetings and/or conferences as necessary. Provide administrative support to Center personnel, maintain complete and accurate account records, reviews expenditures and balances on a regular basis for designated funds allocated to the Center, and its sales & service unit. Develop contract and grant budgets, and responsible for proposal development and submission. Administer awarded grant funds to assure compliance with agency requirements, and UC policies. Process payroll and personnel forms and hires. Perform web-site development and maintenance operations.

Grant Writer/Development Officer (Full Ad)
As Writer and Development Manager for the Center for Nanoscale Science & Engineering, the person will be responsible for preparing and writing proposals, reports, presentations, speeches, and brochures, and the implementation of development programs to promote the Center. Provide program development with the Center Director, faculty and staff with the responsibility of investigating new initiatives, governmental, industrial and community relations, communications, resource development and capital projects. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the person will play an integral role in the development of the long-range goals and objectives of the Center.
