Mihri Ozkan

Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering Department
Chemical & Environmental Eng. Department
Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering
Ph.D., Electrical & Computer Engineering UC-San Diego, 2001

Research: Dr. Mihri Ozkan is the principle investigator of Biomedical
Science and Nanotechnology laboratory. Her research interests include the
development of novel Biomedical Microdevices and applications of
nanotechnology for future developments in bioengineering. The design of
multi-functional, smart and complex systems such as lab-on-a-chip platforms
that require the integration of optical, electrical, chemical, biological
and fluidic (mechanical) components constructed from dissimilar materials
summarizes her primary interest. She received Regents' Faculty Award
(2002), Graduate Student Awards from the Jacobs School of Engineering in
San Diego in 2001, the Bio-Medical Engineering Society in Seattle, WA in
2000, and the Materials Research Society in Boston MA in 2000 and 1999, and
the Best Poster Award at Jacobs School of Engineering in 2002, 2001 and
1998. She also holds a large number of patent disclosures among which many
are being licensed by Biotech companies.
